Hi everybody! How do you do? Please feel free to call me Merry.

I learned to read when I was three years old. (For context, I'm now forty.) My grandmother, mother and sister all teamed up to teach me. My grandmother also taught me to take care of books, and give them respect, because "books are our friends."

["Respect" meant, practically, not laying a book open face-down, or bending the pages down, or using a book as a coaster, etc. But I was an anthropomorphizing sort of kid.]

I never had a book Best Friend before! It is just so awesome. And I've only had it for a week or two. I can do without flying cars, so long as I've got my magic book.

It's nice to meet you all.
