Conversion - Page Numbers

Hi

I've converted a book to epub format, through Calibre, and am reading on a Kobo Aura Edition 2. There seems to be a problem with pages numbers, at first I though the Kobo was skipping pages, but the pages are in sequence and its the page numbers "jumping around".

I'll be reading page 22, turn the page to the next page (and it is the next page) but the page number reads 39, after a few more pages it will jump from say 45 to 29. Page order is fine, just the pages numbers out of sync.

Any advice...?

Hard to say without seeing the epub but possibly a problem with the Table of Contents file (the .ncx file, not a page in the book with a list of hyperlinks). You could try using the calibre main Editor or TOC Editor to see if you can see any anomalies such as

- sequence of TOC entries is different to reading sequence contained in the .opf file <spine> section.
- some content files don't have an entry. Although this is mainly a problem with kepubs rather than plain epubs.
- presence of a problematic page-map file inside the epub
