Hey everyone! So glad I stumbled on this forum. I'm new (obviously) and need some help trying to decide on a device. I was leaning Kindle until I found out that it wouldn't be able to get books from the library. This is a really big deal for me, because I don't tend to purchase a lot of books; I mostly borrow from friends/get them from the library. THEN I found out about this site and a software called Calibre.

So now I'm back to having no preference (aside from maybe still leaning towards the Kindle).

A couple of things that might help...

I am a Network Administrator. Using software to convert a book from the library should be no big deal.
Because of my internet addictions , I really want an iPad, but refuse to get one, because I'd never use it to read books (which is really the whole point!)
I live 10 minutes from a Barnes and Noble.
I'd love to get 2 of the same device and give one to my wife (who also borrows from the library, but is not tech savvy whatsoever).
I tend to put a lot of stock into the Kindle just because they've released 4 different devices thus far. I am not a huge fan of the very small DPad on the Kindle though.
I'm secretly intrigued by the Kobo for reasons I know not.
I haven't really thought about the Sony PRC350 at all, to be honest.
I'd love to just spend $150 or so, but would do $300 to get 2, and am prepared to spend $500 for an iPad/iPad-like device (I didn't just say that, did I?)
I always print PDFs that I need to read for work. I can't stand reading even long webpage articles on the computer - another reason I'm pretty sure an iPad is not for me.

You should ask this question in the "which one should I buy?" forum on the main forum list page. There are plenty of discussions there to read through which may helps as well. I personally love my sony and I really want a 650. It's more than your preferred price, however.

Welcome to Mr from the Netherlands. Try to find a store where you can hold and try some different ereaders. There're just so many different ones; each with their own positive aspects. Have fun choosing and ereading.
