Wanted: Fiction set in current day Europe

Hello All. New ebook connoisseur here. I am looking for recommendations for fiction books based in Europe (or other regions outside of the States) / written by non-American authors that take place in the present day. I especially like books with strong female lead characters.

I've recently read the Girl with the Steig Larsson trilogy and really enjoyed learning about another culture while reading a fictional story.

If you like espionage, much of Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon series is set in Europe. Silva is a very descriptive writer, and he pays extremely close attention to the setting in all of his books.

Are you looking for thrillers or chick-lit?

(I mainly read SF&F, so I'm not exactly an expert in either area!)

Marian Keyes is a popular Irish chick-lit author. There was a lot of buzz about This Charming Man a few years ago, you might want to try it out.
