Smile PRS-650 Real leather case

I am looking for a good quality leather case, preferably black and available from North America for my PRS-650 Reader. Does anyone know of a source? There are leather cases that look quite nice on Ebay but all seem to originate from the UK which necessitates expensive shipping and importation costs. Any help would be appreciated.

NOTLguy,

I bought a case for my PRS 350 from ebay. The seller also offers one for the PRS 650. There were no import charges, it was shipped very quickly (within about 3-4 days) & the normal shipping charge was about $3.99. It's not "real" leather, but the case is nice. It offers access to all ports, switch, & stylus.

Noreve just started offering a case for the 650, but it is expensive, expensive shipping, but no import charges. Noreve cases are extremely nice.

I just bought one of these from a British Company. It came in a few days and is very well made. The smell reminds me of a baseball glove.

I purchased the same. I'm still waiting for it to arrive which should be by the end of the week (It's been almost two weeks).

This seemed to be the best one I could find for what "I" wanted.

Hi PrincessV,

It looks like a very nice case. How does the magnetic closure do at actually staying closed if you carry your reader in a backpack or handbag? And are the sides fairly padded to provide some cushioned protection to the screen?

Thanks!

I got one of their red covers for my PRS-350. It is slightly padded at the outside and has some kind of sturdy inlay, that is a bit flexible but still offers lots of protection.

The closure is holding thight and the whole cover is very nice. I like it a lot.

Thanks for the replies about cases. It surprises me that Sony does not offer a premium case in leather. The case I purchased in the USA was a little too big for my PRS-650 when I got it home to Canada. It was $9 at Best Buy in Buffalo. Must be a different size of reader in the USA. I had to modify it so my reader wouldn't fall out.

Still, I want a nice leather case and it would seem that the UK is the place to buy. Why aren't there any US manufacturers? Kindle seems to have plenty of accessories available.......

I also have the red one that Poppaea mentioned. I think the "inlay" mentioned adds some separation between the cover & the screen. The reader slides in from the top of the "inlay" or pocket, if you will. At first I was concerned about the reader sliding back out from the top, but it fits securely.

I've carried it in my purse & haven't had any issues with the magnet closure opening. The other thing is that it doesn't add any bulk. Oh, and there is a "sleeve" for the stylus inside, but I don't use it.

I have to say I was really impressed with the fast shipping from this seller. I expected a wait for a week & 1/2, but it arrived much sooner. And no custom chargers!

Hope this helps!

Some people buy Oberon cases for their readers. This is American leather. Have a look at the cases thread for more information.

I got one of the Tuff Luv covers for the 650. Very pleased with it. I've tried quite a few covers over the years including the terrible Sony ones and these are far better. Plenty of protection (far more than the sony cover), nicer feel and easier to read with.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tuff-Luv-Lea...5010941&sr=8-2

Pretty sure these are available in the US as well.

Got another 650 as a christmas present for my sister and ordered a second tuff luv case for it. + it was about the same price as the sony cover over here.

I once ordered a Tuv-Luff cover and sent it back. It was ordinary plastic that they called boldly leather in the advertise and on the case it said: Our faux leather. It stank like hell on fire, too! No, thanks, I am able to pay for the genuine version and am willing to do so, but not for some crap.
