Animal Ebooks
Hello Friends,
I am a great reader of books containing stories about animals. Let us join hands and contribute so that other like minded people can enjoy the stories that you have enjoyed. Come, join, suggest & contribute in one place. I'll upload my collection of book one by one if it is allowed. Cheers !! PS: I liked the heart-warming stories of the beloved vet named James Herriot very much. |

The ebook requirement makes it hard. Some of the James Herriot are on Amazon in audio, but no ebook I can see.
As a kid I loved "The Silver Brumby" books by Elyne Mitchell, but so far the only audio of the first book I can see is on cassette. A couple of others look like they may be available on CD. I just did a search for another favourite from when I was a kid, books by Joseph E. Chipperfield ("Rex of Larkbarrow" and similar), but none of those seem to be available in ebooks or audio either. I remember enjoying "Hunter's Moon" by Garry Kilworth, but again no ebook. Things are looking pretty desperate until you remember "The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame - just one of the best books ever written AND, believe it or not, available in audio and ebook. ... and this leads to William Horwood's follow-ons, they aren't up to the original but they're not too bad and they seem to be available in audio. Too bad Horwood's other animal books (Callanish, the Duncton Wood series etc) don't seem to be available. "Watership Down" by Richard Adams is available in Kindle and audio, and if you ever see "Shardik" or "The Plague Dogs" then I'd recommend them too. That's about as good as I can do off the top of my head. |

A couple of obvious public domain choices:
"Black Beauty" by Anna Sewell "The Call of the Wild" by Jack London. |

Books by Sheila Hocken.
I have read her first book "Emma and I" and it really touched me.
After that I tried to search for her other books about the dog named "Emma" (Emma V.I.P, Emma and Company, Emma's Story, After Emma & Emma Forever ). Finally I found two other books from the above list in text file form. I want to upload some books here for others to read. If it is allowed here, then I will upload and you also upload the e-books that you have enjoyed. Keep participating. Thank you. |

About Rita Mae Brown : Mrs. Murphy !!
Quote:
![]() Very witty, very interesting. Apart from the animal characters, human characters are also great. I have got most of the books in e-book form and I have just finished book no. 3. |

I'm sure folks here can make recommendations of books on the topic that can be legally copied and shared. ______ Dennis |

(I will caution, though, that IMO the first chapter is very poorly written. Get past the first chapter, and the story picks up considerably.) |
