Woo Hoo!!!
So I've been playing around with readers at work for a few months now (ever since Borders first started seriously selling readers.) I asked my wife for a Sony PRS-350 for christmas because i love how solid the Sony hardware feels, and the reliability of the devices (Sony's been making readers longer than almost anyone).
So on black friday she bought me one while it was on sale a Borders for $150. She wrapped it, and it has been taunting me from under the Christmas tree ever since. Well, yesterday was Christmas, which means I FINALLY get to open and use my Sony. And I have to say that I am so glad. It was well worth the wait. I've been amassing a small library of books, just waiting to load them up, and I copied a bunch of the books over yesterday. I'm now about 120 pages into Day by Day Armageddon: Beyond Exile, and looking back, I can't imagine how I used to have to hold a big floppy QP book, or a heavy hard cover book. I've never been one who was big on collecting bookshelves worth of books. So having just a digital file instead of a large stack of papers glued together is much more suited to my reading style. The device is light, sleek, responsive, and easy to take anywhere. So for me, this was a good Christmas, and I look forward to reading plenty of good books on my sony. ![]() |

You may have access to the NYPL which has one of the biggest ebook collections.

Congratulations! I paid full price for mine the day it was released, and have never looked back. It is a wonderful device: lightweight, svelte, and very intuitive. Enjoy.

Just got one earlier today, along with the blue lighted case. So far it is fantastic.

You can also buy a membership to the Philadelphia Free Library to borrow ebooks. $15/yr. I'm a New Yorker and borrow from NYPL which has a pretty good ebook library, but I dont think there are as many books in NYPL and PFL gets them sooner. You'd have to pay for the NYPL card as well, but I think it costs more than the PFL. NYPL has very long waiting lists for popular new books, although I've done pretty well with them. It's great when I see their new epub books before many others have noticed and requested them.
Congratulations on your new ereader. I bought the pink PRS-350 just before Thanksgiving. It's my favorite of my 3 epub readers. |
