You have to be kidding us ! Have you seen the catastrophic situation for your brand in Europe right now ? Are you communicating AT ALL with another ?
This is your solution ? Increasing the prices ? Pocketbook CEO cannot be sane. |

Wow. Sony goes down and PB goes up to fill the overpriced void they left?
Very uncompetitive for the e-inks. And the IQ was a heck of a deal at 140, but 180 is probably pushing it. |

And, unless the 902s are getting slipstreamed Pearls, getting too close to KDXG pricing isn't going to help until the firmware's rep reaches PB360 levels. Sounds odd. |

The pocketbook IQ in America is $100 cheaper than buying it Russia. I was thinking of buying it here in Moscow, but decided to wait and get it in the U.S. since it is so cheap (but that means I don't get to watch movies on it on the airplane!).
I'm not surprised that the price is going up. I was wondering why it was so cheap in the U.S. |

Competitive pricing:
The NookColor runs $250 with capacitance touchscreen and a slightly higher-res screen. And it is readily available (and promoted) at a few thousand physical retail locations. The Archos ups the ante with hardware media acceleration and it is fully unlocked *plus* it has a working Market Hack. The IQ has neither so it needs to be lower-priced to be noticed and considered. The disconnect is that $30 Bookland credit isn't going to be of much competitive advantage when the product is selling as a generic android tablet more than a true PB reader. The HQ guys don't seem aware of why the IQ product is selling and that does not bode well. |

$30 credit to a bookstore that nobody wants to shop at? Why?

Because this is a cheaper solution than an actual discount. And if nobody is shopping there, they won't even lose any money at all ... simple but clever. Sort of.

I personally agree with most of the comments here. I passed the information to the PocketBook USA, not sure if it will have much impact.. but who knows..

TV, you might pass this on: I was completely planning on buying the IQ when it was 140 and I could get free shipping. The effective price increase to 160 (with shipping) made me switch with no regrets. At 180 plus shipping, I would not even have considered it. I understand how those in Europe may think me a cheapskate, but the reality is that in the US, a very comparable machine is available for about 40 percent less and more advanced machines can be had for not much more than the new price point. Pocketbooks are great devices in that they offer some unique software/firmware features that other devices do not. That said, PB needs to deliver on their firmware upgrades (i.e. functioning browser and rss reader!!!) so that we owners can spread the word and they need to keep their prices where they are. No one's going to buy a $200+ PB602 when a K3, Kobo or Nook can be had for under $150. Hell, I felt kind of foolish paying $180 for my 602 except there were a few features I absolutely needed. |

Whatever the motivation, currency issues, market-price adjustment, etc, the move does put the IQ in a dangerous no-man's-land; neither an entry-level bargain (which even at US$149 could be justified) nor a premium-featured product. And at $180 plus shipping it starts infringing on the Pandigital 9in tablet at $199. Everybody and their uncle is getting into android webpads; the pricing pressure is headed downwards, especially the ones pegging their fates to ebook reading. It's odd, to say the least. But then, doing the IQ at all was an odd move to start with. |

Hi all,
I got an IQ a short while ago, and quite like it, but the PB software on it is disappointing. Loading apps onto it is not a great experience either, with out of memory messages or similar quite common. I haven't tried hooking into Bookland yet, and am unsure if I will. Again visiting a resistive touchscreen after the capacitive one of my phone was also not so pleasant. The hardware itself feels solid and of quality, and seems to have good durability. My view is that I got a pretty good Android tablet with decent battery life, and with a warranty and support, for a price only a little more than the eBay stuff on sale at present. This represented good value for money at USD$140. However, I can only agree with those here who have said USD$180 is too high. The Android OS offers many options for ereading, so there has to be some distinguishing and attractive feature(s) to give it the edge at that price. Cheers, |
