was it a nook christmas?

My father in law was a lucky nook eink receipant. My wife got new accesories and we all have enough barnes and noble giftcards to last a lifetime.

So did your household have a merry noomas?

I received a NC and the Writer's cover for Christmas, and like yourself, enough gift
cards to keep me in books for a while.

It did present a problem though, my current Nook has 3g and no modification
to my wired network was necessary. Now I would have to go wireless
and I've always rejected that plan.

But, my brother-in-law had a spare Linksys and I set it up as a VERY locked
down access point. MAC address only.

Now if I can just resist the dark side and keep my "wittle" fingers out it. Yeah,
SCION, you make it very hard for me.

Resist. Resist. Resist. RESIST!

My NC was rooted within 3 hours after opening it... of course 2.5 hours of that was charging time, and another 20 minutes was just feeling out the device. Autonooter did its job in 4 minutes flat.

And to the OP, it was a VERY Nook Christmas! The Classic for the wife, and the NC for me.

Traveler arrived in my lap Christmas eve night (family tradition started with the grandparents, and this year the torch was picked up by my parents.)

I have a thread centering on my own nookventures so I'll not bore the lot of you other than to ask this...

Anyone here have any collaberative worlds/stories they wouldn't mind a contribution to (with an epub copy as 'payment' along with credit?)

Well the only downsides i see to rooting are that in my case it's difficult to do for a non-commandline familiar person (if it wasn't for the possability of a Barns and Noble BRICK I'd attempt anyway!)

Nope, it was not. And I honestly thought it would be. The cousin who was going to buy my wifi got a NC for Christmas, and my mom decided to not get me one since I hadn't sold it yet.

So I have a couple other people interested, hopefully I can get the wifi sold by the end of January and buy myself a NC. I want, badly. I'm not sure I can wait that long.

Oh, and I asked everyone for gift cards so I could buy books. Didn't get a penny. My family is determined to be failures forever...

I got the nook 3g with the jake spade chocolate waxwear cover. I honestly cannot get over how amazing this thing is. I originally was getting the dillane plain night, then saw the spade and its sitting next to me now with the perfect rugged masculine look like you would never believe. Absolutely amazing 10/10 cover.

Well, I officially got my nook color and a $25 B&N Gift card. I think B&N should pay me a commission after this Christmas though. Because of my influence (Being a nook classic and nook color owner) we have many new nook owners in the family this Christmas:

Aunt: nook wifi
Cousin: nook color
Mother in Law: nook color
Father in Law: nook wifi
Nephew #1: nook color
Nephew #2: wants a nook color now after he heard it does Manga well

Who's next...

Just got back from Best Buy, where they had PNY 8GB cards for 19.99 (not the best price available, but good for instant gratification). The NOOK and NOOKcolor shelves are almost bare; no gift cards, no readers, only about a half-dozen cases for NOOK and none for NOOKcolor. OTOH, lots of Kindle stock available...

You know the Kindle folks will say most buyers order direct from Amazon.

*shrug* Why invite and stirr up rivalry? We have our device (which has expandability and accepts epub as a standard) and they have their device (which has no expandability, closed propritary files only.)

I see no need to quarrel The free market will decide.

Of course having said that.... Kindle feels like it's too closed for my tastes. Happy for my find.

We got my mom a nook and spent the evening trying to figure out how to download books from the library. Unfortunately, the library site was super slow... think everyone else was doing the same, laugh.

My daughter opened her Nook and was beside herself with excitement. Just reading FB and Twitter, there are quite a few people who are waking up to Nooks--particularly the NC. I think it was a VERY popular item this Christmas.

Uh ... I've had two people contact me to find out how to put library books on their new Kindles. Ooops. Too bad, so sad.
