Not new to e-Readers, but New to these forums

Figured I'd actually make an intro post on a forum for once X3

I'm not the social type, outside of a few certain game sites, so, quite honestly, no one is likely to see me here very often unless I've got some infuriating issue with my latest shiny toy that I can't fix on my own.
I had a Sony PRS-505 for two years, until a fateful fall finally destroyed the screen(poor thing had been dropped a million times but it finally fell at just the right angle to shatter the whole screen) and while it was certainly nice, convenient, and didn't give me much attitude, the time it took to switch between screens, and the issues with text size, and all the other little issues that come with new technology, in addition to the fact that pieces fell off the first time it was dropped, kind of ruined me for sony ereaders.

Now, I've got a beautiful, new, shiny Nook color for christmas, and while it seems to be giving me a bit of 'tude about how it's going to load the books, and it really doesn't seem to like the fact that I'm using Calibre to load books that I (gasp) haven't bought from the B&N store, the simple fact that it's a touch screen, can access the internet, and has a pandora app has me pretty much ready to overlook just about anything short of a battery explosion.

Long post aside, I'm happy to have found what seems to be a really active and helpful forum, and I'm looking forward to pestering y'all with my issues, and maybe managing to help a few people myself

Welcome to the board! I'm guessing your questions might be better received (in terms of the highest number of nook-knowledgable people reading it) on the nook board. The only think I know about rooting is that it invalidates the warranty, and right now there is some question as to whether restoring default immediately before getting servicing is acceptable as far as keeping warranty. I believe sideloading is the idea of plugging it into the computer and loading books onto the device. At least, that's the way I use it. I hope I'm not using it in error. Sideloading as opposed to downloading , which devices with wif-fi or 3G can do.

***hoping my 505 doesn't suffer the same fate as yours!
