Diacritics, Czech

Help! Something I read in this forum (I think) let me put a font on the Kobo that recognized Czech diacritics in an epub file. Something went wrong (reset? don't know) and now the same file shows a bunch of '?'s instead of the accented characters.
AND for the life of me I cannot find the instructions any more. I do use calibre for moving the files, if that is any help.
Can somebody point me back to the right thread or post, please?
Regards Emil

But embedding fonts doesn't seem to work with the Kobo.

Jon - At least get your facts straight. I've told you before that the only place you can't embed a font is in the 'body' selector. Everywhere else you can select an embedded font. Apparently allowing the user to select the serif or sans-serif font is done at the body level, and overrides the book's css selection. That hardly means that embedded fonts don't work. Yeah, I know it's not what you want, but you don't even admit to owning a Kobo. Give it a rest.

But the body selector is where most publishers select the font to be used. So why is Kobo not fixing this or even admitting to it?

Embedded foreign fonts DO work on the Kobo. At least they did in the very first firmware back in May when I still had a Kobo...

Not only does it work on the Kobo, it also works like charm on the 7-inch color Nextbook, I am pleased to report.

Pholy...Totally off topic here, and sorry for hijacking the post, but how does the Bebook compare overall to your other readers?

Longer answer sent by PM, but briefly: The BeBook is my favourite, both ergonomically, and feature-wise.

@ Pholy
Hi,
would you mind terribly to copy me on the longer answer (or post it here, if you like)?
