Snacking and E-reading---

Does anyone else read and munch? While I have avoided the cheetos and related snacks, I do like to eat munchies while having a lay down on the couch? Anyone else do this? If so, how? I use one hand for flipping pages, one in the food, and the book open on my chest... What strategies do people use?

On a similar note, and PLEASE don't read further if your tolerance for very vaguely adult topics is weak:

Do you use your e-reader on the Family Throne?

I find e-reading a fine pastime with drinks to be savored, rather than guzzled, myself.

As for ... the other ... no, but I've listened to many an audiobook in such a situation.

Pages? What are these "pages" of which you speak?

I don't eat as I read - I find that a fattening habit and am doing my best not to take it.

On the other issue, let's just say I use my Kindle anywhere

I dislike greasy fingerprints on anything. So I munch with one hand and turn pages with the other--unless of course if I take my reader into the Library--where no food should be considered.

And that's why there are also buttons that will turn the page

I simply hold the reader with one hand (left), with my thumb on the next page button. Or prop the reader up against something and use the page button to go to the next page (at the breakfast table, for instance).

And yes, I do sometimes take my book to the little room, especially when I'm reading a book I just can't put down (even though we always have other reading material in there, such as comic books and now a quarterly magazine from Donald Duck...)

My 15 year old son always takes his laptop into the toilet a few times a day. Not sure what he reads on it, but it must be very engrosing because he's usually in there for half an hour or so.

Hmmm...I am not a Moslem; I handle my snack of choice - often cashews - with my left cackhand while I virtually turn pages, or mouse, with my right hand. My primary interest is in keeping foreign material, particularly particulate away from the e-reader. My beverage of choice, not associated with snaking, is a nice Pinot Noir.

When accommodations avail, I study calculus so as to not hurry this most basic of processes.

when it is warmer outside, i have sat outside and read my kindle3 with one hand. in the other hand an orange ball appears. I throw it and go back to reading... a few moments later it reappears... only slightly wetter. I throw it again.... it comes back (even wetter)... I throw it again....
This process goes on as long as I sit there and read.
Did i mention my dog, Roy likes me to sit there and read?

My iPad gets coated in chocolate, grease, pretty much everything. I keep a big bottle of eyeglass cleaner and clean cloths nearby.

You guys remember to spray the cloth, not spray the screen directly. No chance of getting liquid I side the machine that way.

Having had my ereader for less than two weeks, I recently discovered the fact that I can now do other things while reading that I couldn't do easily while reading a pbook. For one thing, I can let go with both hands and it doesn't snap shut. So, one hand on the food, the other reaching for whichever Riesling I'm trying out this week... Amazing. I can put the Kindle on the coffee table, hold my food on my lap, no danger of spills. So many possible configurations for me, my Kindle, my food and my wine.

As for the other thing, well... maybe once the new wears off I'll take it into the throne room with me.

I too need to be careful about eating while reading. Though I read all the time and will cheerfully take my book to the dinner table. I guess it's the snacking while reading I have to be careful of.

Sometimes I get a little splatter of soup or something on the Kindle but a damp paper towel has always worked fine to get it off. I don't know what it is about the Kindle plastic, but I have had no trouble keeping it clean.

I don't really snack while I read, but I like to read while eating a meal (when I'm alone). Being able to touch a button versu trying to turn a page (and hold the book propped open) is awesome.

Also, I have found that it's very easy to use my PB360 while brushing my teeth. No more mindless staring into space for me! Helps get more reading time in...
