- Youtube runs fine on the IQ.
- Text to speech isn't enabled yet on the native IQ reader. It is reportedly due "Real-soon-now". - PDF? Both are 7in devices; fair but not great. If that is your primary interest you may be better off looking at a difference class of device altogether. - Epub? Which DRM-flavor? Again, ADEPT DRM is due "Real-soon-now" in the native IQ reader unless you can find a copy of TXTR for Android. The Sony reader app is incoming but not here yet. What *is* available is: Kindle Kobo Audible Overdrive FBReaderj Coolreader3 Aldiko z-Moonreader eReader Adobe Reader Repligo I'm assuming the VM Reader you're cross-shopping with IQ is the original, not the new T301 version with Kindle pre-installed and capacitance screen. If so, the underlying hardware is almost identical (except the IQ has physical buttons and a metal case) and the difference lies in the proprietary software (if any), the warranty, service and support, and the price. At present both products are essentially generic Android tablets. At some point in the future the IQ is supposed to get a (mostly?) full-feature port of the eReader software from the eink line with multiformat support, ADEPT DRM, mutilingual TTS, and a working dictionary interface with 20-some free dicts. But for now those are just promises. The reality today is the IQ's value is as a solid, stable Android slate. Anything beyond that remains to be seen. |
