Please help
i would like to purchase an e book reader for my wife, but don't know anything about them. She mainly reads books from the library and has no interest in purchasing. My questions woulb be
1. Is there a way to use the library system with an e book reader? 2. How difficult (computer savvy) are e book readers to use? 3. Would this be a useful gift for her taking into account her use of the local library system. Thank you for any help you can give. |

Welcome to MobileRead, mike.
You don't state where you are from........if you are in the US, and if your local library has ebooks that fit your wifes needs, you might want to try a nook or sony. Check out the return policy and customer service reps. |

Libraries tend to use a digital format called ePub, Mike. It's pretty much industry standard now ... apart from with Kindle that can only use Amazon's own Mobi format. Maybe you should spend a little tme in the 'Which One Should I Buy?' forum here before making a choice. There are many good devices available now and there's likely to be more than one that fits the bill for your wife. Don't be side tracked by red herrings like pre-loaded free books (you can get those free anywhere) or the size off device-linked stores (again you can buy anywhere and use free library software like Calibre). Best wishes and good luck. Neil

Hi Mike and welcome to MobileRead. I borrow eBooks from the Fairfax, VA public library all the time. In fact, back in October, I borrowed one while at 32, 000 feet on a flight from Baltimore to Dallas. And, back in January, I borrowed one from them while I was in Rio.
Check out out list of eBook lending libraries in our Wiki here https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/EBook_Lending_Libraries |
