Problem with library book download

I couldn't figure out where to post this, so I decided it must go in the General Discussions forum.

I downloaded a book from one of the Overdrive digitial libraries this morning. It took longer than normal for it to load into ADE, but it came up eventually. I moved it over to my Calibre library and thought to check the file size. All the rest of my books are somewhere ~.5MB to ~2 or 3MB max. This one was 45MB. I figured I see how the new OMC app for the iPod handled something that big so I used it to download a copy directly to my touch. It took awhile, but loaded.

When I started reading the book, I got 10 pages or so into the first chapter and turned the page and Chapter 2 pops up. Chapter 1 was not finished. So I tested Chapter 2 and the same thing happened.

I call my local library and they said to write up an email and they'd send it along to the Overdrive people because they'd be the ones to figure out what the problem is. Hmmmm....

Anybody else seen something like this?

Sounds as though the publisher provided a defective copy to Overdrive.

More information...

Finally got home from all the evening's events and thought to look at the copy on ADE. It's all there. So, obviously, something got lost in translation.

I'm going to delete it and try to redownload it from the library. Failing that, I'll try to sideload it on my iPod a different way or two.

And I figured out why it's huge. It's got pictures. Lots of them.

Today's update:

1. OMC - claimed that it downloaded directly to my iPod touch, but was missing chunks of the book.

2. Stanza - sideloaded a non-DRM copy using iTunes and the iPod reset itself. Happened twice.

3a. Bluefire - sideloaded a DRM copy using iTunes and the iPod reset itself.

3b. Bluefire - sideloaded a non-DRM copy using iTunes and it worked.
