Let say you reading your novel and have stumbled on a new word.
How many click, scroll it takes you to be able to see the definition of the word in the built in English dictionary in Kobo Wi fi ? Is it as quick as Sony Ereader's ? Thanks a lot |

Dear erictoma!
Please, please, buy the reader. It is not a little fortune and you will be happy. Or simply get one of competitors to the same result. Whatever you buy, it is not for life. And all of them are for reading. People complain about advanced fea- tures. Basic ones are ok. Buy! |

Zoran, he's doing researche before he buys, which should be encouraged rather than those who buy things on impulse and then complain to no end afterwards ![]() However, Erictoma, if you have a chapters close by, why not go visit the display models they usually will have setup? as for your question, it takes a click to bring up the menu, another couple to go down to the dictionary, then however many it takes to get to the word you want to lookup, and then another click to select it...so the answer is various. I haven't found it to be a good dictionary as it can't seem to do plural words.... cheers! Steph S. |

Ah yes; another person who found the plural issue! And of course, you can't manually enter a word, or override it to remove the plural

![]() Seriously, I was disapointed that the dictionary was pretty lackluster as I wanted it specifically for my 9 year old, who reads well above her grade level, but needs help with some words; I thought a built in dictionary would be great for that. However, it wasn't the primary reason for buying it and knowing what I know now, I'd probably still make the same choice. it's a good little device for what it was intended for: Reading books. If having the dictionary was really important, I probably would have went with Kindle, however budget is a concern, and I wasn't ready to pay close to $200 for each of my 3 devices (that's for the e-reader, exchange rate and import charges), not to mention the Kindle can't be used with libraries, which my daughter and wife use very frequently. But I'm glad you were able to get the info you were looking for. good luck with whatever e-reader you end up choosing! Steph S. |

![]() I think may be I should consider buying kindle or Sonny or not buying at all any ereader. Buying a electronic dictionary alone would be a smart solution too. |

Actually I have the original Kobo and always have my iPhone with dictionary.com app, so though it's not built-in, the dictionary is always available to me.

wait too long. Whatever erictoma buys, some complaints would come. There is no perfect product and have to say that I have complaints on my reader. Do I throw it through the window? Not at all. If I'd give it back and get another one, I'd find another kind of problems. Erictoma should buy a reader. Which one? Cannot say. His money, his decision. My point is that he's missing nice thing. |

The number of clicks depends on how far the underline that indicates what word will be looked up is from the word you want. The process is to click on the menu button, then choose dictionary. Because I use the dictionary fairly often, it is there already. That means that the dictionary is working in two clicks. And then, as I said, it is the number of clicks it takes to navigate to the word you want. I don't find it difficult or time consuming. I don't have a Sony, so I can't compare the two.
