Question Edge/GPRS Coverage?

Hi there,

I'm buying my son the Kindle with 3G because he doesn't always have computer access and when it does its a shared computer with the other students in Job Corps.

He is in Yachats, Oregon and the coverage map shows that area of the Oregon Coast as having Edge/GPRS coverage at slower speeds.

Does anyone have a Kindle in that area or in a Edge coverage area that can comment on how slow the download speeds really are.
I figure 3G is still his best solution as opposed to just wifi with the cheaper kindle.

TIA

I live in EDGE territory and it is just fine - as long as you aren't downloading stuff with large amounts of pictures. eBook files are usually just tiny little text files. Books download quickly, even if you can't maintain a 3G connection.

It is NOT great for surfing the internet or checking email out here though. Its worse than the old days of dial-up internet and Prodigy.
