G:RSS: Optimized Google Reader (RSS) for the Kindle 1/2/3 (and Nook)
Hi all,
I've been working with people in the Nook section to release G:RSS-Web, a port of my Windows Phone 7 app, G:RSS (http://nowsci.com/techviews/20100612...s-phone-7-wp7/), to the Web for use on eReaders. It includes most of the features of the desktop Google Reader, plus things like hot-key support for the Kindle's keyboard. Details, screenshots (included here as well), and the URL to access the reader can be found at: http://nowsci.com/grss-web/ Note: Kindle 1 and 2 version is now available. Thanks, Ben Last edited by Fmstrat; 10-01-2010 at 12:11 PM. |

A validated SSL cert (RapidSSL) is used for transmission of the username/password between the Kindle and nowsci.com. The username and password is passed along to Google's API servers via Google's SSL certs. Nothing is kept in memory or on disk of nowsci.com's servers, other than the encrypted POST data. It's just as secure as logging into Google Reader directly.
Thanks, Ben |

Hey dude, this works like charm for the DX. It gives a much better reading experience than GR's mobile ver. itself.
Hope it will live long! Thx. Bookmarked it. |

Kindle 1 and 2 versions are now available. The next features will be: Login security message (about Google's OAuth method) / privacy policy to make people more comfortable, Folder sorting, and logout button.

Why can i just use google to login? Just don't want to enter my password for third party.

The Web is set up so a site only has access to the data it creates, there's no way the G:RSS Web app could access your Google Login information on it's own (that would be a HUGE security issue). That's why OAuth is required. If you have a mobile phone, and you use a Google Reader application on it, or an Email application, or a YouTube app, etc, they all use the same process. I can't say I don't share your concern about sharing login information, if this was the only app I'd released, I would be, too. But if you browse our site, you can see that quite a few reputable apps (both web, and for Windows Phone and Android) have been released, and I have attended conferences and interviewed/questioned a couple of recognizable names in the industry. Hopefully this is credibility enough for most. Thank. |

Anyone know how to access the "double letter" articles? After 27 articles per-page, they have "aa", "ab", etc. as their shortcuts. How do you type both letters?
