Smile PRS-300 Can it work in Australia???

Hi All,
I recently bought a Sony PRS-300 Reader whilst on holiday in USA and returned to Australia to discover that it doesn't work here.
I've currently got it plugged into my computer to charge and the "Installer for Reader" isn't appearing in my "Computer".
I've also discovered on the box that it says:
"Use of the eBook Store from Sony is limited to residents of the United States and Canada only"
Is there any way I can download a program or something for Australia?
I've read a lot of messages on this website's Forums and I need someone who can "dumb it down" abit for me as I'm no where near as computer literate as all of you!
Hopefully someone can help because I was so excited about this Reader and I'm dying to use it!!

You don't really need the Sony desktop software. The Adobe Digital Editions does pretty much the same thing, except for access to the Sony store - but it may not work in Oz anyway.

I've suggested to the mods that they move this over to the Sony forum, where I think you get more useful responses than my brief note...

If you are looking to purchase ebook to read on your new Sony 300, you won't be able to purchase from Sony but will have to look at other retailers for content. If the any ebook you purchase has DRM then you can use Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) instead of the Sony Reader sofware. If the ebook does not have DRM, then you can use ADE or Calibre to manage you ebook library.

I have purchased two Sony PRS-300 ereaders. One for myself and one for my daughter recently for Christmas. I use Calibre to transfer ebooks to them with no issues.

I have been able to buy ebooks (not geo restricted) as well using the supplied Sony software. The older versions redirect you to other estores and the new version of the software allows direct purchase.
