Mac users and NOOKcolor

I am trying to connect my NOOKcolor to my MacBook Pro to sideload books.

Last night, I connected my NOOKcolor for the first time, it showed up fine and I moved over a handful of PDFs and ePubs. I ejected it before unplugging, which is the proper protocol for USB drive devices on a Mac.

This morning, I connected to delete a few of the PDFs but now, the Mac doesn't see the NOOKcolor as a drive. I have rebooted the NOOKcolor, and rebooted my Mac. I've tried both USB ports. The orange charging light is lit up on the USB cable, so power is being transferred, but the MBP doesn't see it as a USB drive.

All my other USB drive devices (Kindle, Opus and various USB keys) are working fine, so it appears to be a problem specific to the NOOKcolor.

Anyone else having issues with the NOOKcolor and Mac?

This might be a dumb question, but have you swiped the "on" thing on the nook. Unless the nookColor is awake, the Mac doesn't recognize it.

You seem to be using the provided charger cable to connect the nookColor to your Mac. I would suggest trying with a standard USB cable to see if that makes a difference.

I agree with the suggestions above. First make sure you swipe your screen so the nook is on..don't think it work uless the screen is on. If that does fix it, though I think it will, try a different mini/micro ish cable

I'll second that the nookcolor needs to be ON, had this problem on both a mac and a pc.

I've tried it locked and unlocked, with no success. And I don't have any other microUSB cable to try except the Kindle 3 one, and it won't insert as it has tiny prongs on it that won't fit the NOOKcolor.

I have found that using the standard Nook cable with my Computer my front USB connections often have this problem sometimes they will work and sometimes not, I'm not sure but it might have to do with the fact they do not provide enough power for the device, as the Nook cable tries to pull the Full 500ma from the port. I know when I have other device plugged in to the 2nd front port 100% of the time the nook will not be recognized correctly, I take that 2nd load off the port tho and I find it get better results, I have resorted to using my back usb straight off the mobo as those provide full power all the time.

I've got a Mac laptop, with two ports. I did unplug the external Apple monitor from the other port, and solely plugged in the NC, and it loads again. Or at least it did the two times I've tried it.

Annoying, because I'd rather use Calibre with my 24" monitor and keyboard than the 13" laptop display and my desk isn't set up for using the laptop stand-alone.

And balancing the laptop AND NC on my lap (with two kids running around) is nerve-wracking.
