I fully agree with this. Yep, there is an alternative to facebook: diaspora. I heard it is what they call open platform social network.
But the point is, it is junk to put your every thought on your wall. It's like hanging a board outside your house saying "Feeling lonely", "They cheated me!", "This day is delightful" and many like that. Who likes to put such boards on front doors of houses? Funny. Secondly, they are threat to privacy. It is something that is a worm in cyberculture. Any more thoughts? |

I tend to agree with him. I think the Apple walled garden approach is my most despised concept. I will never buy an Apple product because of that way of doing business.

I'm with ya there. In the interest of full disclosure, I do have an iPhone which is supplied by my work, but that is all it's used for - corporate phone and email. ..

I removed quicktime player a week ago, because it asks me every week to get a pro version. VLC FTW.

![]() Unfortunately, we are a minority. Every other has iPod or iPhone. They install iTunes. My college has iTunes as a part of a college standard image for certain classes. We even had a training over summer on iPhones and how to integrate them into lessons (at least two of lecturers bought iPhones within a month after the training). Some students come with iMacs or whatever is the name of Apple equivalent of a laptop and are allowed to use them instead of classroom PCs. P.S. even my niece in Canada has iPhone. I sent her Happy Birthday email yesterday and all of sudden I received email: Code:
Thanks!! :) say hi to *** :) Sent from my iPhone ![]() Her husband is IT/business prodigy... |

Good points in the article, especially in regards to net neutrality. Let's have those who want their traffic prioritized pay more for the privilage. I see it as nothing more than another way to seperate the "elite content subscribers" from everyone else. A sane person came up with this?
I only use QT Pro to save videos and convert them to audio format for my mp3 player. There was an enire 2 years where I had to use a Mac after my laptop took its last breath. And I used itunes on top of that... talk about an adjustment. |

yeah, erlier on, people used protocols for communication, accessing the services by software they chose for on a server they wanted on, be it smtp for private maile or news, irc for chat etc. pp. nowdays they happily jump into company made cages and YOU (like me)are looked on like an idiot, when you tell them you won't install no skype for voicechat/chat, or half a dozen of IMs from snafu Inc. pointing out they are free to meet you on this and that irc-chan using the software they want for itwhat was once a bundle of protocols is turns now a closed pla<ground of single companies.. If this is web 2.x I prefer not to upgrade and hope there are enough same minded out there.
I even believe that - should the net be wrecked by this course people min build an other/2nd one: Imagine DNS-like services functioning similar to torrent trackers paired with the usage of wifi transfer protocols via CB |
