I lost my Aluratek and my Literati died
I loved my AluratekLP because I was able to download library books to the SD card and not have time limits. When the Literati was on clearance at Kohls, I bought one. With gift cards and coupons, it cost me only $12. I loved that one better because I did not need a light to read at night. The Literati can read all the ebooks I downloaded for my Aluratek.
However, I lost my Aluratek. My Literati is dead and I can't find any info for battery replacement. I would like to buy another one that is similar to both but more like the Literati cause I read more at night than day time. So what's out there? I forgot to mention that I got my Aluratek as a present but it was $50 on clearance at Ultimate Electronics and used a coupon. So my dollar limit is cheap!!! WIFI is nice. I don't buy ebooks. I just borrow from the library. |

Isn't the Literati still under warranty?
Get the $79 Kindle and use your bedside lamp for night reading. It has wifi and much better battery life than LCD tablets. Kindles are great for borrowing library books because they don't require a USB cable to transfere the books onto the device. It's done over wifi. And, Amazon has great customer service; especially if something goes wrong with your Kindle. |

@tubemonkey: That works if mmread is in the US, but not any other part of the world. For anywhere else, reading library books on a Kindle requires stripping the DRM and sideloading from a computer. Not particularly difficult or onerous, but hardly a transparent process initially.

Can't the Literati be used via an AC adapter even though the battery doesn't hold a charge all that well?

I am in the US. I have forgotten how to strip. I don't like a bed light. I had a nice Sony book light cover for my ALP but the light didn't cover the whole page. I used a wider light but it reflected light from the screen.
