That does seem to be the magic price point.

I see that best buy allows purchases by international people with a us address but why after near completing order it charge a tax?

Also i've seen another nook refurbished at overstock and it seems it ships europe too, if someone is interested.

They are offering the refurnished units at $99 on ebay and buy.com This is always a prelude of clearing out the entire inventory and make room for new generation. If B&N still in the e-ink market, I am hoping a 2nd gen e-ink nook might come soon.

Did Amazon do that with the earlier generations of the Kindle?

Maximum 10 per store.

So unless you're willing to line up the night before and be one of the first customers in the store, it's pointless.

That's why I'm not doing it. I don't do lines on BF.

You may be right, but the official story from B&N is that they had a large shipment of damaged cases and these are repaired, hence refurbs. As many are showing up with older serial numbers it makes sense. I thought people were seeing newer models as well, but the firmware is really weird in that the much older hard ware is showing up with firmware that should only work on the units made after the SD chip change.

We need someone with insight into these firmware changes to set us straight, especially after the 1.5.0 version comes out or it will be impossible to identify who has softrootable (easy way) hardware.

Meh just order it from Overstock.com I did and it's only $99.

I worked on black Friday last year at Target and it wasn't pretty so you won't see me waiting in line when I can just order online or from T.V

I think this Best Buy sale would be the first time B&N let a new nook from an authorized dealer be priced lower than the official MSRP.

Unless of course they lower the price of all nooks ...

thanks

thanks pal! i thought the buy.com statement that they don't accept foreign credit cards applied to google checkout too (since they required a billing address), eventually i will buy the nook trough one of many mail forward service out there

OK, so apparently according to an article I just read, you can order all Best Buy Black Friday deals online, so that should include the nook. Now, I don't know when the online sale will start and it could only be a matter of minutes until it's sold out, but it's apparently going to be possible to get a brand new nook for $99 online. Here's what the article said:

Best Buy (NYSE: BBY - News): The same products promoted in its Thanksgiving Ads -- including doorbusters -- will be available on BestBuy.com starting Thanksgiving Day. Best Buy is also offering free shipping on online orders through Dec. 21, excluding laptops, iPads, iPods and some major appliances.

Also, it's saying Amazon will match all Black Friday deals, so keep an eye out there too:

Amazon (NasdaqGS: AMZN - News): Here's another reason to avoid the Black Friday stampede: The online retailer is matching other retailer's doorbuster prices. Plus, it's offering free shipping.

A good possibility is that the online Best Buy deal will start sometime between like 3am and 5am Eastern time Black Friday, but I really don't know for sure.
