				Newspapers on Original Kobo "soon"

(http://www.facebook.com/kobobooks) Facebook update: Our tech team wanted to pass this photo along to our original Kobo users who have been waiting patiently to get newspaper subscriptions... The update is being tested and you can check it out for yourself very soon! Thanks, The Kobo Team |

I shall commence holding my breath... Will this update bring many of the improvements that the wifi Kobo has? Chiefly (in my mind), will us old-Kobo-havers be able to read and charge at the same time? Or is this update going to strictly be for newspaper support? Will we get landscape reading mode as well? I couldn't find it on the wifi Kobo, so I'm guessing not but who knows? They've basically just given us another "Soon!" and very little other information. It's great to see newspaper support, but how soon is soon and will there be any other improvements? I'm hoping the Kobo guys see this post and can respond to it. I'm a little weary of having so little real info to go on. If it's truly reached the testing phase, then they're probably in feature-freeze, and should be able to give us something more to go on... I'm sorry to come off so frustrated, but the "Soon!" mantra wore thin months ago. |

The beta includes the ability to read and charge at the same time. It does seem to include many of the improvements that were delivered with the Wifi version.

Soon and stable is better than NOW and flaky. A handful of us are taking a beating right now on our kobos so hopefully you won't have to. Definitely some good stuff in the beta. It'll be worth the wait.

folks want it "now", I think it is much better to check it against all occasions of usage. The firmware obviously has final outlook. What is going on is something nobody could predict. Nobody wants quick upgrade, a week after 1.7. To be safe, let's appoint it for the first day or winter 2012. | |

Ignore this (because of information in newer posts): Update library on your desktop. Click on "Home". You now should see that the newspaper and magazines are live. It was turned on an hour ago. Per Tim's note below--this is only for the beta group. But if it works for the beta group, it is safe to say it's coming, it's coming. Last edited by taming; 11-17-2010 at 09:15 PM. |
