Greatest price differential between Kindle book and pbook you've found...

The greatest differential between Kindle book price and pbook price so far that I've observed (where Kindle price is higher):

"Atlas Shrugged"
Kindle price is $18.99
Mass market paperback is $9.99 new (free shipping with prime)

"The Sherlock Holmes Omnibus"

$19.99 at BN........FREE here.

And the paper version was huge and heavy!

edit............wait........it wasn't a "kindle" book, but it was a paper book! Does that count?

I should say that I mean the greatest price differential where the kindle book price is higher than the pbook price.

Kindle eBook and pBook prices are getting close.

Recently I've seen a lot of Kindle eBook prices just ONE DOLLAR below the Amazon pBook prices. More and more are going that way.

The publishers set prices now. A few months back Amazon set the prices.

Publishers believe more and more that the reader only pays for the READ. The venue of the read is becoming irrelevant.

Ah, you only want to know if the ebook is higher. Interesting. But, I'm not anal enough to go through the books checking. I look at the description of the book, the author, and decide if it's worth the money. I really don't care what it sells for in paperback since there is absolutely no chance I'll buy it in paperback.

In the UK you can buy the (10 book) True Blood Book Collection by Charlaine Harris for £10 on-line from "The Book People" and the same books in Kindle format are £48.90. They also sell several other collections of books which also similarly priced and offer a good saving over the Kindle versions. Plus most supermarkets are selling paperbook for less than the Kindle versions.

Except for the minor consideration that it isn't in the public domain in the US, and you'd be breaking copyright law by downloading it.

The final book in the omnibus, "The Case-book of Sherlock Holmes", is still under copyright protection in the US.

All of Conan Doyle's work is in the public domain pretty much everywhere else.
