How does kobobooks.com relate to indigo.ca?

If the Kobo is from Indigo, how does kobobooks.com relate to indigo.ca? I thought I would be able to purchase on indigo.ca and have them sync to my Kobo readers. And are the prices on kobobooks in Canadian or US dollars?

As I understand it Kobo was originally called Shortcovers and a owned by Indigo but they have split from Indigo and are now a separate company entirely. The new company is owned by Indigo, Borders and several other companies (see http://kobobooks.com/about_us).

I don't know for certain but I think Indigo's ebook prices will redirect you to kobobooks.com? I don't think Indigo sell ebooks themselves. They sell the Kobo eReaders and accessories but not ebooks (and their gift cards don't work at Kobo). Kobos can also be purchased from other retailers like Walmart too.

When you browse Kobobooks.com the prices and selection are based on your physical location or the billing address of your account. So if you're surfing from Canada or have a Canadian billing address then you will see prices in CAD and will only see books which Kobo has the rights to sell in Canada. If you surf the Kobobooks site with a Canadian billing address and are logged into the site then regardless of where in the world you are it should also be displaying Canadian pricing and selection.

I'm not sure why you think you have to guess as the site DOES specifically tell you the regional currency; ie - When you're logged in from Canada, You should see the Price along with CAD, so for example 9.99 CAD, which is the Canadian Dollar code.

The front page of the kobobooks.com site indicates the currency, but within the site itself, currency indicators are not shown--at least for the Canadian version The currency indicator is shown again when you go to buy.

You can currently purchase ebooks off the Chapters website as well as instore at our instore Kiosks.

once you've made the purchase you can log onto your Kobo and you can simply download the previously purchased ebook which you purchased off our kiosk.
