Women Who Run With the Wolves- Clarissa Pinkola Estes
Okay, so its heavy reading but really worth it! They've even reprinted it, I see!
Clarissa Pinkola Estes has written a book for women about women (yada yada, you're thinking, I know) but this one I found really, really uplifting although a heavy read - it is, after all, quite a scholarly work based on the archetype of women found in myth, legend and fairytales. Being a woman today can be a royal pain in the arse *cough* since we are suppose to be all things to all people and somewhere lose ourselves along the way. On top of it, we're suppose to be "good girls" as well as save the world on a daily basis? Oh boy... This book helps women to realize that we have another "wild woman" inside of each of us which needs expression, and which has been repeatedly described and reflected throughout history through word of mouth traditions. Women Who Run With The Wolves: Contacting the Power of the Wild Woman (classy new cover, too) ISBN-10: 1846041090. I can heartily recommend this book to women (and men) who feel frustrated and lost even though everything in their lives is "alright." By the way... I haven't been able to find a digital copy of this title, but am very interested! If anyone gets their hands on one, please let me know where. P.S. Yes, my daughter is getting a copy of this book for her birthday. It's one book that's wisdom will keep on the shelf for as long as she needs to take it down and open it up. :-) Last edited by Jera07; 11-07-2010 at 09:55 AM. |

My husband gave me that book soon after we got married in 1995.... he got it because "well, you're a woman, you love to read, and I know you love wolves..."
![]() I found it very interesting. One of the few pbooks I own, actually. Haven't read it since then, perhaps I should dust it off when I find some time. |
