Already have in dead tree format
I looked at the current recommended book list and saw that I already have them all in dead tree format.
I'm moving to e-books because I'm retiring and anticipate having to get rid of my library in the next few years. It's going to be tough. What is interesting to speculate upon is how many times I will be buying my old favorites that I already bought before and how many times I will be buying new books. |

Welcome, yes, some of each. I also find I still prefer certain books (technical, non-fiction, reference etc.) in paper format.
![]() It's also much easier to "flip through" and find something of interest with paper... Last edited by kennyc; 10-28-2010 at 12:10 PM. |

I had a 540 page tome on my paper TBR pile, which I replaced the other day with a $10 e-book -- tome goes to library as a donation tomorrow.

I imagine it will be tough, all right.
I'm a book collector (mainly 20th and 21st Century Literature Firsts), and I can't imagine getting rid of my book collection. My numerous ebook readers keep me sane, since my collection is (at this moment), in an air-controlled storage unit. Ah, but how I long to caress my William Vollmann, William Gaddis, Mario Vargas Llosa, and Donald Harington First Editions. (Communal group weep, please.) Boo-Hoo. ![]() Don |
