Read Tamil and Telugu on Paperwhite
Hello all. I am new to this forum. I have Kindle Paperwhite 3G [model number 53-000965]
I would like to read Hindi and South Indian languages like Tamil and Telugu. Has anyone here successfully installed South Indian fonts without jailbreak in Kindle Paperwhite? Can you please brief me on how you did it? |

No. you cant. Amazon has systematically removed non cyrillic languages. you can though read tamil and telugu and kannada in pdf format. the very few ebboks in hindi do not have a very pleasant rendering. neither does it have any dictionary nor xray. so goodluck

I'd get one of each and see what happens. Also, the Kindle does support embedded fonts. It is possible for you to make an ebook, embed the correct font, and load it on to the Kindle. |

check this out: http://www.teleread.com/paul-biba/am...otr-kowalczyk/ quite a while back i saw many ebooks that do not belong to the the latin script on the amazon website. now most have vanished. the ones that are still available would do better as pdf imho. i had frantically searched for books in devanagiri script but all i could get was a *few* books. not that the scripts doesnt have literature. you can find shitload of epubs, but when you try to convert it to mobi or azw3 through calibre, the system f**ks it up. |

Amazon added official support for a bunch new languages in 2013: http://the-digital-reader.com/2013/0...ore-expansion/ They added a Polish section to the Kindle store last fall (also Hindi and Russian): http://the-digital-reader.com/2015/0...ussian-ebooks/ And in February they added sections for Swahili and other languages: http://the-digital-reader.com/2015/0...-kindle-store/ |

Since Indic languages also have letters that are combined with vowel signs, embedded Indic fonts might also be rendered incorrectly. |

There's been another thread posted in the last few days in which someone posted some screenshots of Tamil on the Kindle and the Kobo, and the person who created the thread said that they were correctly rendered on both devices.

I do know that openoffice reads all the before mentioned languages like a native and can help you read ebooks if you do so on a laptop or other device with a hard drive.
