Reader Library Woes

I searched the forums and found one other person having the same issue, but no solution was posted.

I recently got a new Mac. Reader Library ran fine on the old one. I downloaded it from the Sony site for the new computer. It opens, but then nothing else happens. There is only one category on the top toolbar...Reader Library...and beneath it...Services and Quit. The library won't launch. It won't even quit. I have to Force Quit each time.

I do have calibre installed...but I also had it on my old machine. I don't like the Sony software as much, but it seems to be the only way to download a library book or purchase a book.

Any solutions? I sure would appreciate it.

I don't know much about sony software, but you can use adobe digital editions to download library and purchased books.

I have Digital Editions installed. I tried to download a book from Sony.....I figure I would just download a free one to make sure it worked. When I click on Download the book, a pop-up appears asking me which program to use. I chose Digital Editions. Nothing happened. No download. No spinning wheels...nada....nyet...nothing. Story of my life.

Hi, capjap. I had an issue with Reader Library where it just showed the menu bar at the top, no library window would load, had to force quit, etc. I did an uninstall/reinstall to fix it. Before you try that route, you might want to try this simpler solution first. See the link below:

If you need to do an uninstall / reinstall, then there are some extra folders that you need to delete on the Mac. See the link below:

I have already uninstalled and installed several times with no luck. Now I am trying your second option. I cannot find a Marlin folder in my Preferences anywhere, but the other two I did. Am attempting to reinstall later....with fingers crossed!

capjap, try having your MAC boot with as little running as possible. It sounds like you have something that conflicts.

Well I got rid of the sony folder, and the fsk folder and reinstalled. I went to the Sony store and was able to download a book. Looks like it's all fixed now. Thanks so much for all the help

Hooray! Glad it's working now. I noticed after I reinstalled that I do not have a Marlin folder either now. It may have been something left over from a previous version that is no longer applicable.
