E-books from the Bookdepository

I have wanted to buy Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn Triology as e-books for awhile.
Yesterday, I admitted defeat, and went to the bookdepository to buy them as pbooks.
On a whim, I decided to see if they had them as e-books too. To my delight they were there. Much rejoicing.
When I bought the first book in the series , everything went fine. Until afterwards. I went to download the first book, and it says your order is being processed. This have made me a worried that I wont be able to download it at all. So what I wonder is if anyone here have used them to buy e-book, and if this is normal behaviour?

Edit:
I got an email informing me that I'll get a refund. Sigh. I should have known it was too good to be true! Blasted Geo-restrictions!

I regularly use them for physical books. Unfortunately the geo-restriction madness makes it difficult to buy ebooks from them.

I actually got the Mistborn trilogy box set from them a couple of months ago (think it was $28). It's still sitting sealed in my bookcase until I can catch up on my reading list.

DRM is not the same as geo-restrictions. DRM is attempting to prevent the sharing of ebooks after purchase. Geo-restriction is attempting to prevent readers from buying ebooks in the first place.

They are, however, both forms of restrictions on books. They're ways of making it impossible for you to buy (geo-restrictions) or use (DRM) your books. From the point of view of someone who just wants to buy a book and read the thing, they're both evil.

(and I'm the one with the quote)

I must admit the book depository's habit of accepting a sale and then cancelling it with no explanation is d@mn annoying.

I used the contact form on their webpage and informed them about what happened. And I got a response from them saying that it was " a server problem with their e-book provider." Still don't have the book though....

I think the main problem is that they don't have any routines for geo-restrictions. Even the annoying pop-up window saying the book isn't available for your region would be an improvement.

I don't think the issue here is geo restrictions, I think it's the agency price war with Hachette

Where else have you tried?

I'm in the UK and I've definetly read the last of the Mistborn trilogy as an ebook. I'm not sure where I bought it from - BooksOnBoard(UK) or maybe Waterstones. I know I ended up with a refund because it was badly formatted! Lotsofrunonwords.

But I think Sweden should fall under the same Georestrictions as the UK? So either of those might be worth trying.

ETA - ah or maybe not. Just read https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=103969 Sorry.

The geo-restrictions is one of the reasons I've basically converted back to PBooks. It just became too much hassle to find an ebook you want and are actually ALLOWED to buy. Not to mention that the ebooks tend to be around double the price of a paperback.

As far as Bookedepository goes, I've only had them cancel an order for one book since they couldn't source it. Had no problems and got refunded immediately.

I'm very happy with their service and as a matter of fact I just got 4 more books delivered from them today. So if you do go the paper route they are really great!
