problem with calibre

I have just changed computer so had to download calibre. On my old computer the new version of calibre would not work as obviously one of the books causes problems and it cannot read the card. So I have used version 06.50. I downloaded this to the new computer but it comes up with an error message ondevice and I have to use task manager to get out of calibre. Please help as I need to be able to use on new computer. I ttried version 6.49 as well and got same message. I have wiindows 7

Yes, it is entirely obvious.

You are downgrading from 0.7 to 0.6.

The only downgrade even partially supported is to 0.6.54. Use that.

To get rid of the ondevice errors (and likely others), you will need to erase your current configuration. This should get rid of the errors, but will also get rid of your save templates and other settings. To erase your configuration, start calibre, then go to configuration -> advanced -> configuration folder (or some such). Push the button to open a file explorer. Erase all the files in that folder (it is probably a good idea to make a ZIP backup first). Then start calibre. You will be asked to provide the folder of your library, as well as some other bits.

Don't follow these directions if you don't understand them. If you do it wrong, you can lose your library.
