Kindle books on NOOKcolor
In case you've been wondering... Rooting the Nook turned out to be quite simple and Android Kindle app works like a charm. See for yourself - Kindle books on NOOK Color.

I figured that people would figure out how to root the Nook Color and be able to use other e-readers Android Apps.

Yeah, I have a bunch of Kindle books but I was gifted a Nook Color and would love to be able to read the Kindle books on it. I'm too afraid to root it though, so I guess that's not an option.

Why are you afraid to root it? I am not syaing you have to root it but that there seem to be some great sites that take you through the process of rooting. If I were to get a Nook Color (and that aint happening unless someone gives me one) I would root it in order to get the most out of the device.
But that is me. |

Ha ha that was the first app I installed after I rooted the nook.
I end up the kindle app offers a very pleasant reading experience with the nook color. The rooting expierince is no too easy. But the instuctions on nookdevs is accurate to the word. Very easy to follow. Last edited by =X=; 12-29-2010 at 06:15 PM. |

Even if you don't root, the forthcoming Kindle for Web may be workable using NC's browser (assuming Amazon designs it to work well on netbook-sized screens..).

After reading the B&N legal I found no clause stating that you void the warranty. by rooting the device. It does void your contract, but that is another issue. When you void your contact they ask that you return the nook back to them.

Yes that was the thread that got me to read the legal agrement in the first place. I always assumed that modifing the device voids the warranty. But after reading the contact I read no clause that implies. So.
Also that thread seems to argue the point that it does not void you warranty. |
