Preparation for transfer to new reader

Hi,

Can anyone advise on what preparations are needed to transfer to a new reader? I'm now using a PRS600 which I am intending to sell off to purchase a PRS650. I know I can do a master reset to clear off the contents of my old reader before selling it off but how do I guarantee that when my new reader comes along, I won't have any issues "restoring" whatever I had on my PRS600 to the new PRS650?

I know that one fail-safe way is to wait for my new PRS650 to arrive before experimenting with the transfers but since I have started advertising the sale of my PRS600, I might not be able to hold off the buyer till my new reader arrives.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Congrats on getting a new reader!

I'm assuming you have DRM'd content that you want to read on the new reader.

I've upgraded a few times. Here's what's worked for me:

1. de-authorize the old reader in the Sony software before selling it. If you use ADE, there's a key combo to deauthorize it (something like Alt+Shift+E, sorry I don't recall exactly but if you do a search you'll find it).

2. When you get your new reader, hook it up to the same computer you've been using (the computer is authorized for your DRM'd content). The Sony software should locate the reader and authorize it, allowing you to transfer your content.

I hope that helps.
