newbie e-reading supporter!

Hey everyone. =]

I'm glad to be a part of the forums, and think they are a great resource for information. I like how helpful everyone is!

A little about myself, I was born and raised in Saudi Arabia, although my parents are both from Pakistan - I've only visited a handful of times, and spent 20 years in the Middle East.

About two years ago, I moved to Philadelphia, PA, for college, and I've been reading books since I was 5 years old, when my dad got me my first encyclopedia. I'm proud of the fact that I spent many hours during childhood teaching myself how to read, and that helped me so much with the English language that for as long as I can remember, my thought process has always been in English, even though it's not my first language.

I hope to learn more about ebooks at mobileread, and hope the advancements of this industry benefit society just as I'm sure it's capable of doing.

Regards,

Daanish.

Oh, and a little about my reading interests:

My fav. author is Chuck Palahniuk and I grew up reading a lot of Sidney Sheldon books. I recently picked up Chuck Klosterman's 'sex, drugs, and cocoa puffs' and like his critiques on society.

My all time favorite book is The Count of Monte Cristo, a book I read when I was very young, and I still love it to this day.

I think Stephen King is a good author, but I prefer his short stories much more over his other work.

Another favorite book is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, and I'm very glad I never saw the movie.

I'm also into books like Prometheus Rising by Robert Anton Wilson, which is usually classified as metaphysics, but I dislike that term and disagree that the book should be under that genre'.

More, if I can think of them later. =]
