Does switching Wireless feature still cause interference?
Could the wireless signal be stopped or are they always to some extent even if switched off - try putting a radio and switching it to a channel near the unit, does the radio signal have interference?

You can switch the wireless off. Any electronic device will cause a certain amount of radio interference; that's why the Kindle has to be certified by the appropriate telecommunications regulator in each country in which it's sold.

Have you tried switching off it's wireless capability and putting it close to a transistor radio that is playing a channel AM/FM and listening if there was any interference in the radio signal?
This interference happens with mobile/cell phones and just want to find out if it happens with this Amazon product? |

It does happen but it is within the specifications set for cell phones. You can't avoid it as it by design is a radio transmitter and has to be to be able to talk to the Whispernet network. All cell phones will do it as it is a side effect of how they operate.
I'll spare you the details of why exactly it sounds like that though. If you turn off wireless then you won't get the cell phone interference. If you buy a WiFi only Kindle then you won't get this interference even with wireless enabled as it won't have the cell modem inside it. There currently isn't any method of enabling only a specific type of wireless. Its all or nothing currently. |
