Kindle Colorosoft shipping on hold?

Haven't found a better source, I know these guys are a bit questionable, but the above is their unsourced claims.

I read that this morning too. I came here looking for more information; I’m surprised there isn’t more discussion about this!

It's hard to know whether they're on hold due to the issues, or whether it's simply out of stock. Not much to discuss until they come out with a patch or start recalling them.

In the UK it shows the Colorsoft as shipping date is Friday November 29.

So I think this story is actually true. The ratings are quite poor.

I have a replacement arriving today. I imagine it will be the same or worse than what I have. I couldn’t help trying to get one without the yellow on the bottom. I have a feeling software will not fix it, but I have no facts to back that up.

It's very simple.
They are having a major issue and lots of returns.
Have you ever see a Kindle release with barely 3 star reviews?
They are trying to stop the bleeding.

The people I feel sorry for are those that traded in another Kindle and are stuck with just the Colorsoft.

I've seen people on Reddit who have tried three different Colorsofts, all showing the behavior. I'm firmly convinced at this point that anyone who says they don't have it is because they can't see it, or, they have their settings dialed in so the issue is minimized (which one can definitely do).

I almost did this. Well, I actually did it when pre-order became available and was trading in my other Kindle. Then I bought the new iPad mini and comics look amazing on that (was wanting colorsoft for comics) so canceled colorsoft order and trade-in. Glad I did. I have the Kobo Colour as well and comics are okay on it but the ipad is the next level.

For what it’s worth, last Monday on Amazon Germany the planned delivery date jumped overnight from Oct 4th to Oct 12th. This was before the Colorsoft was released, and thus before the bad reviews came out, so it sure looks like the demand is higher than the production rate, and that Amazon ships the devices as fast as they receive them from the factory (apparently every week or so).

Of course it’s also possible Amazon is slowing down shipping of new devices following the reviews, but I think the Colorsoft simply being sold faster than it’s manufactured is a more likely explanation.

I'm closing both threads about the rumors regarding shipping of the Colorsoft. People are free to discuss the rumors at will in the two existing threads about the new Kindles, in this forum and in the News forum. If/when it's confirmed by Amazon or a reputable source, it might deserve a thread.
