Conversion to mobi - can not view on Paperwhite
Calibre converts the docx document to .mobi, sends it to the Paperwhite (via USB), says it is on the device but the document does not show on the Paperwhite. If I have Calibre convert the same docx to azw3 and send it to the Paperwhite, it shows. I have other mobi files on the Paperwhite that do show. Any ideas what is happening?

Make sure you have not turned on new style or joint mobis in the mobi output section of the conversion dialog.

Have you considered converting to .azw3 rather than .mobi?

Used Calibre to convert a docx file (Sample attached) to mobi and send it to my Kindle Paperwhite (PW). It does not show on the PW but Calibre says its there. Using Windows Explorer shows the mobi on the PW (copy of mobi from the PW attached). Only default conversion settings used. Had Calibre delete the mobi from device and library. Converted the docx to azw3 and sent to PW. It shows up and can be read on the PW.
Took a prevoiusly converted mobi (from epub) already on the PW and working, Again had Calibre delete the mobi from device and library and the convert the epub to mobi and sent to device - did not show on PW. |

The MOBI file you attached works in both Kindle Previewer and shows up on my Kindle PaperWhite.
Your problems are almost certainly caused by some MOBI file on the device that is causing the kindle indexer to crash. All files that the indexer would have gotten to after the bad file will therefore not show up. Presumably, the Kindle indexes azw3 files separately/before MOBI files. Reset your kindle or delete everything from it manually and you should be fine. Last edited by kovidgoyal; 02-22-2015 at 11:30 PM. |
