Building a mod/update package
I want to know if there's some kind of tutorial to build a package to instal mods to Kobo device.
I'm try to program my utilities but sometimes they works and other bricks the boot. I use now 7zip but the problems remain. Can someone enlighten me? |

Since you build your packages with 7-zip under Windows, permissions should not be the problem, but you can check the permissions with the 7-zip filemanager, or on command line:
Code:
7z.exe l -slt KoboRoot.tar But I think it is more likely that the content of your package breaks the boot. One likely cause is Windows style end of line format, the other is syntax errors in scripts, especially in rcS. Last edited by tshering; 02-06-2015 at 05:19 AM. |

If you have your update put a broken file into the boot process, boot process will break. So don't make mistakes when editing /etc/rcS. Or just don't edit it. There are nice launchers like KSM already, no need to further mess with the boot process.
