Search improvement request with tag browser [Partially Solved]
hi
would it be possible to add CTRL/SHIFT/ALT handling for the tag browser when an existing search request exists example : current behavior : -search for "date:=today" -now click in any way on a tag in the "tag browser" (example : click formats, then mobi) => result : "date:=today" is lost, now replaced by "formats:"=MOBI"" wished for behavior : -search for "date:=today" - CTRL click formats, then mobi => result : "date:=today AND formats:"=MOBI"" & ALT click could be "OR" instead of "AND" (or the reverse) Thanks for reading. edit: I'm aware you can create virtual libraries for the same result, it would just be a convenient way of making complex searches without having to type them out. It works just like that as long as you build your search from the atg browser. i.e. use Ctrl+Click in the tag browser for all parts of the search.

2 things though : - the choice between "AND" or "OR" can't be done with an alternate modifier key (such as SHIFT or ALT). Currently I believe I have to set the setting that alternate between AND or OR by hand for the whole search request(it's also 2 clicks & 2 mouse movements to set it back & forth) - is there a way to get some "dates" & yes/no columns in the tag filter ? (for READ/UNREAD columns) Thanks for your previous reply. Last edited by whismerhill; 05-17-2016 at 08:12 AM. |

1) IMO that is too confusing
2) No, constructing search expressions via the tag browser only works for data that can be displayed in the tag browser -- yes/no columns and dates are not columns it makes sense to display there. |

I think I found a way to circumvent that limitation of no "read/unread" inside the tag browser
by using a custom column built upon the read/unread status except I have no idea how to build the specific template but at least I found a solution xD time to document myself to find how it works EDIT: for those interested I named it : "readstatus" here's my custom column template : Code:
{#yesno:|read by Joe:|,}{#read_jane:|read by Jane:|} the two of them being yes/no columns that hold read/unread status & don't forget to check the box "display in tag browser" & if you need more than two of those then replicate the yesno part like this : Code:
{#yesno:|read by Joe:|,}{#yesno2:|read by John:|,}{#read_jane:|read by Jane:|} a column that would hold : -if date = today => "today" -if date = yesterday => "yesterday" -if date > 1 week => "last week" & so on. it's yet another complicated model though xD Last edited by whismerhill; 05-19-2016 at 05:17 PM. |
