Meet-Up! Southeastern USA MR Hoedown in October

Drop your ebook device into a backpack and join us in the great outdoors for the Southeastern MR Hoedown! Thanks to DixieGal for the name.

Here's the important information.

Location: DeSoto State Park (Alabama)
Date: Saturday, October 25, 2008
Planned Activities: 1) Potluck lunch at an outdoor picnic shelter, 2) ebook device show-and-tell

DeSoto State Park is only a 2-1/2 hour drive from Atlanta, less than 2 hours from Birmingham, and an hour from Chattanooga.

If you're interested in picnicking with the Southeastern contingent of MR, let me know.

what ??? geeks in the great outdoors ??? in the middle of nature ??? is that legal ?? well i suppose it's the perfect opportunity to impress each other with the stunning clarity of e-ink screens in full sunlight. no pointing and laughing at the lcd device users ; that's not nice.

Freaky prospect, huh? I know it's been done before, in Georgia at least. Every year there's a computer conference held at a 4-H camp. It's hysterical to watch people wandering among the trees with computers and cellphones trying to find enough reception to send e-mail or make a call.

I've changed the thread title to "Southeastern USA". Other countries have a "Southeast" too

. Eg, if you use the term in the UK you're referring to the London area.

I'm bringing a giant crock pot of chili - so bring your appetites! Slayda, BookishDreamer, and I hope to hear from lots of you that you plan to meet us there. Just bring a dish or drinks and your various devices, and plan on spending a beautiful autumn day in the woods with us.

I'm trying to get to Cancun for October, so a side trip to Alabama would be a bit out of the way.

Crud! It's the wrong weekend for me to join you. I'll be in Atlanta the week of 3 November and then in Auburn for Homecoming the weekend of the 8th. If you had scheduled this meet-up for the 1st of November, I'd have joined you. Unfortunately, the 25th is the weekend before I have to be in Phenix and I think the commute might be just a bit too far!

You guys have lots of fun. Us Texans will have photos posted by the time you Sutherners gather.
