Sony's new tablets

That S2 actually would be an ideal phone for me. |

Thanks for sharing! This is great news. I like that tablet alas my budget won't like it.

More tablets to flood the already overcrowded overpriced market.

Yes, when you live in Europe (with all those taxes) even cheap items get expensive very quickly. Amazing how 500 USD becomes 500 Euro!

However I think that these seems to differentiate themselves a little at least from the multitude of andriod tablets. Btw why is it called tablet when most require you to either have them in a stand or holding them in your hand and is not functionally optimal when lying flat on a table... A question for the philosophers perhaps |

I bet the S2 (dual screen model) ends up like the PSP Go - a disaster. Oh well, Sony is a very diversified tech giant and can afford to experiment like this.

Well, if they want to be successful, they'd better be cheap with those specs. The form factor is also quite strange on both of them: perhaps the S1 is comfortable to hold being that shape, and I suppose the S2 will be conveniently pocketable, but neither has that really desirable appearance that they'll need in the increasingly crowded tablet market.

I'm curious if Sony will stop making eInk devices, if their tablets take off....

True, but that doesn't mean Sony will want to cater to both markets, especially if the eInk device sales are tanking. I presume they can set up the LCD devices for compatibility with the existing software and formats.
