Vent/Rant: Package Stolen Off Front Porch

So I have been expecting a package to be delivered via UPS, and I have been tracking it online. I finally saw the "package delivered" notice on their web site and there was another detail mentioned: "Left on front porch". I get home thinking the package would be there, nothing. No package, no little yellow sticky note, nothing. I decide to wait until the next day just to see if they may have made a mistake, still nothing. I call the vendor to find out when my package will be delivered, they also show it as "delivered". I explained that no package has been delivered. The rep on the phone said they have to initiate a delivery trace from UPS, which will take 10 to 14 days! After that they can/may resend the part.

I am not worried about getting the part, or getting a refund, I can simply have it removed from my credit card. The thing that bothers me is that now I have to wait two more weeks through no fault of my own!

I just felt like ranting a bit, although it didn't make me feel much better.
Anyone have any similar experiences with package delivery? I did some Google searches and it seems that sometimes criminals will actually follow the UPS truck around and steal every package they leave outside anyone's house. End rant...

Yes, it's happened to me several times. My suspicions are my former landlords grandson, but I have no way to prove it.

In each case (Amazon and Sprint) I was able to call the vendor and get a replacement, but it's still a hassle and extended wait. I've even requested "signature required" but either the vendors or the shippers weren't willing to do that.

Happily, I've moved, and no longer have the problem.

I haven't had a lot of things stolen, I have, however had idiotic delivery people. a couple years back an entire order from Republic of Tea (including a few teapots, everyone was getting tea stuff for christmas) was delivered to the barn. the middle of the barn floor to be exact. the horses had one hell of a time tearing that up. after a laptop was left hanging from the gate (after specifically asking for them to call), I gave up (there were many other *issues*). I got one of those private post offices, and it is worth every single penny!

Wow Kindlekitten, those are some interesting deliverymen. I think you can register your name and address with UPS and Fedex so they don't deliver and items must be picked up at a distribution center. I looked that up after a laptop disappeared. The wonderful UPS person gave it to my neighbors to hold since I wasn't there and were not helpful enough to note that in the records I could access while tracking it. Thankfully my neighbors were honest and knocked on my door during my freakout and gave me the box. :hugs: for honest people.

So sorry about the missing package Cyguy, hopefully it will turn up soon.
