What is Our Wiki, Why You Should Use It, and How It Works
So. You are new, or maybe not so new. You have questions.....about a device, or where to find certain books, or which libraries lend e-books.
Welcome to MobileRead's Wonderful World of the Wiki. Look at the very top of any page. Click on the "Wiki" Link. Are you wondering what the difference is between ebook readers? Click the "dedicated e-book devices" link. You'll find information for all ebook devices currently on the market, as well as those no longer sold, and those to come. Some will even have a link to their manuals. Our famous "e-book reader matrix" compares the e-ink devices, all on one screen. There are also links for LCD displays, and non-dedicated e-book readers. Looking for a place to buy e-books? Or wondering how to get the lowest prices? Click on the "Ebook stores" link. Scrolling to the bottom will show you three comparison sites. Wondering where to find a lending library near you? Try the "Ebook Lending Libraries" link. You'll find information on Software, how to upload a book here, and much more. Its worth spending some time here. If you see any errors, please let us know. If you can add anything not posted, again, let us know. The Wiki is only as good as our members who upload information to it. So far........its pretty dang comprehensive! If there are questions you have that are not addressed, please, never hesitate to ask somewhere. Enjoy! (additional info about the wiki I haven't posted welcome!) |

The Mobileread wiki's software is the same that Wikipedia uses -- so any of you who have worked on Wikipedia will find it easy to try out. =)

Problem I have with the wiki is understanding the "How to code it properly" aspect. I've added a couple of stories in there, but more by luck than judgement.

This markup cheat sheet gives a good overview of formatting. Also, the more people use the wiki, the more wikignomes and wikifairies will help out in terms of editing. =)

I made a (slightly edited) copy of the WP cheatsheet on our wiki. For advanced formatting you should visit Wikipedia's guide; the engines are pretty much the same, after all. =)

Yeah! I highly support the use of the wiki. Much better than wading through years of posts when you are looking for a specific piece of information. Thus why I started a table of format support for the iPhone.
