Does anybody know if it has a different firmware compared to a US model?
I have a US model and would like to run the european or german firmware if this can be done.

I think someone said the firmware that came with the French model included localization code so that the same firmware version can support multiple language via language files.

So, yes it will have different firmware than the us model. They have not released that firmware for the US/Canadian units yet that I am aware of.

You can look at Ebay. I got my blue one there months ago from a German source without any problem. Just a bit (10%) more expensive.

Hi, if anyone has brought(or know the details of) the PRS-505, Germany release, please do provide your comments.
Does this have a German language interface?
I am in japan and amazon.co.jp is listing the PRS-505S for preorder, at a higher price tag 36k Yen.
Thinking of ordering it. I do not know german..(maybe its time to learn..).
How much will a full german PRS-505 hamper me from using the device?
Also how about the preinstalled ebooks?

Also some ebay sellers ship internationally. But I am trying to avoid using my indian creditcard; the extra charges push the price tag high.
Amazon offers a nice CashOnDelivery feature and hence trying to use this instead.

Are those charges higher than Amazon price premium plus COD charge? And BTW German PRS-505 does have German user interface.

Amazon does seem to put the price high. the PRS505 come around 36281yen--376$(accord to forex). COD charge is very less..260yen. B&H shows 320$ incl shipping. Thats 50$ lesser.

Either way, do not know how much i will get charged in INR.

German UI?..I have to reconsider then..
