I recently bought 3 Oasis readers from Amazon for family members. Listed as Used- Very Good condition but cosmetically all look to be new and unused. The 32 GB unit is flawless so far as I can tell but the two 8 GB units arrived with deteriorated batteries which per the readout will not charge above about 94% max. I could be wrong but suspect that these have sat in Amazon inventory for way too long with batteries depleted. Passing this on so other members will be warned in advance regarding what they may receive. The "Used-Very Good" units sold for $119.99. Currently no more listed as in Very Good condition with 8GB memory, Good condition units only available.

Oasis 2 or 3?
The Oasis 1 is 6", so really a Voyage Version 2. Also some Oasis models the battery can't be changed? |

Oasis 3, the last model. The only one being offered used by Amazon currently.

It might not be as nice, but marketing, production and time line it certainly was:
First 300 dpi 6″ Amazon Kindle models in historical order: Voyage PW3: cost reduced, no buttons and not quite as sharp due to cheaper top layer. Much cheaper. Oasis 1: Buttons. Maybe had power cover? Premium price ereader. There was never an actual Voyage 2 despite rumours by a certain site. Possible origin of rumours was the original Oasis? Hence my attempt at humour calling it a Voyage 2. I've not seen an Oasis 1. I do have a Pw3 and did have an Oasis 2, which apart from being 7″ was only OK. The Libra and Libra2 I have seem better. I've not seen the Oasis 3. Which Oasis, if any, is nearly impossible to change the battery on? |

I bought 2, condition was "Used - Good" and it said with ads. Both were in perfect condition - not a scratch on them. One had ads and one didn't. I think I'll return the one with ads...

I think the Oasis 1, while too quirky for many, was Amazon’s last attempt to make an interesting e-reader. Oasis 2 and 3 were acceptable saves (wish they had gotten the magnetic cover thing under control), but it’s really gone downhill since then.

It's been reported here (somewhere) that the Oasis 3 is nearly impossible to change the battery without incurring cosmetic damage to the unit. I own an Oasis 3 - still great and holds a charge. I also have an Oasis 1, but the screen controller may be defective. It has vertical lines going up and down the screen. I've taken it apart, and disconnected various cables and then reattached them, but...still can't get rid of those lines. |

Yes, this is true. Oasis 2 and 3 are complete disasters of engineering.
The screen is glued to the chassis, and the heat required to soften this glue damages the screen first. Without preheating, the glass cracks. This is why the moved on to slotted design like on Scribe, where the screen is held in the frame by plastic tabs. |
