How to get 8bitdo micro controller to automatically connect to klc?

I have a 8bitdo micro controller that I have paired to my klc, and I have done the adjustments in settings on my klc and controller. I also have this nickelmenu version installed with my own commands. Somebody on the kobo reddit told me that if I just toggle the bluetooth on through the nickelmenu, and then turn the controller on, it should automatically connect. However, for me is doesn't automatically connect.

I found a post that shared a code you can put in your nickelmenu commands that makes the controller automatically connect to your kobo, however, you need to know the mac address of your controller. I have no idea where to find that. Tried connecting to my laptop and following the instructions from a site, but it was different on my laptop and I couldn’t find the mac address.

If anyone knows how to find the mac address or knows a different way to make the automatic connection work, please let me know!

Using a 8bitdo controller with a Kobo is an interesting concept. But, I’m trying hard to understand how it would make using the Kobo any easier. You basically have two controls: page forward and page back. Please explain the use of the 8bitdo controller and a Kobo, or any e-reader.

The only way that I see a controller making any sense is if you have your Reader on a stand of some kind and then using the controller. But the Reader may be father away then holding it.

The controllers help keep your hands warm under a blanket during the cold months. There is a radio frequency based remote on amazon but they only let you move forward. The 8bitdo micro is the same price and you can configure it to go forwards, backwards, go to the home page, go to sleep, or wake up

I did this on an iMac. I connected the 8BitDo via Bluetooth, then went to System Settings > General > System Report > Bluetooth, and the address was listed there. IDK what the steps would be on a Windows machine.

My specific use case for this is: cardio machines at the gym while the reader sits comfortably on the machine itself. That way I can run, climb stairs, row, whatever, and just keep the controller hanging from the wrist and turn pages

I'm guessing you are on Windows 10 or 11. Try this while your device is connected:
-Open bluetooth & other devices settings. (type it in the search box)
-On right side or the window that opens, click More Bluetooth Options.
-A window, Bluetooth Settings, pops up. click the hardware tab.
-Select the 8bitdo Micro Gamepad from the list of devices. click properties (lower right corner of window)
-Another window opens, 8BitDo Micro Gamepad Properties. Click the events tab.
-In the information box you will see something like Device BTHENUM\Dev_E418D8527DBC. The MAC address is the alphanumeric sequence after \Dev_. In the example it is E417D8527EBC. In some situations it is displayed E4:18:D8:52:7D:BC. Yours will be different than the example.

Could you post the link to the Reddit thread with the Nickel menu code to auto connect the Micro?

Did you manage to get this working? I can get the controller working just fine if I connect via the regular settings menu, but nothing happens when I hit those NickelMenu options.
