Tiny default covers? Bug?

A weird change that seems to have occurred between the last version of 5 and the current version 6 is that the default cover for "coverless" books has shrunk to a 96x128 thumbnail, rather than whatever larger size it was before (300x400? something like that).

I haven't seen mention of this anywhere and cannot figure out if it was a deliberate change for some odd reason, a bug no one has noticed, or a hiccup with my particular installation (portable 6.1, FWIW).

You could try making sure that high DPI is off. With Qt6, high or low DPI is set by Qt6. In my case, it was set wrong.

What you do is set this environment variable.

Well that didn't work or I did it wrong (not impossible). Tried a couple of different ways, and nothing seemed to change the scaling. FWIW, I'm using Windows 11 with a 2560x1440 resolution monitor.

I found the default_cover.png in the calibre resources and it's still 600x800 pixels, so it must be a scaling issue. Everything else in calibre looks fine and all actual covers are scaled normally. If I use the built-in generate cover, I get a nice large 1200x1600 image. If I remove a cover I get the 96x128 default. This tiny cover shows up in the edit metadata window, the book details panel, and the cover browser, so whatever is leading to the rescaling is consistent.
