Broken Screen - Touchscreen not working - fetch notes?
Hi there!
Yesterday I dropped my Clara HD and although I have cushioned the fall with my foot, the screen is now broken and the touchscreen does not work. Because I was so addicted to the device, I've already bought a new Kobo (Forma HD) but since I haven't sync my Clara HD with Calibre for more than a month, I've finished a few books since and have a lot of annotations in each one, that are precious to me. So the real problem is that after I plug the USB cable to the Clara HD I can't select the "Connect" button because the touchscreen doesn't work. Is there a solution for this? Thanks in advance |

I think the clara still has a microsd card internally so you can open it up and grab with sdcard reader. if you do a full copy of the filesystem structure on partition 3 and put it onto a new kobo, you might be able to use as is (all library and annotations included). of course that's assuming you don't already have new data on the new kobo that you'd lose by full copy over.
as for your clara - is it actually stuck on the "computer detect" screen or... does the screen itself still work (window pops up and vanishes depending on usb plugging events)? if the display works it might still be useful for something... first time I see one shatter from the front, is the clara built that way or do you have a glass protector on it? |

The Clara HD has an internal SD card, so you could take that out, put it in the PC and access it that way. You could also edit the config file and add "AutoUsbGadget=true" to the "DeveloperSettings" section and put the card back in the device. With that, the device will automatically connect when you plug it in. Then you should be able to use calibre to access it.

Note that, for the "another Kobo" variant of this process, that can't be a Forma (or an Aura One, or an H2O 2, and possibly a few others I keep forgetting about), as those do not use an internal SD card

As you were only copying the contents of the book partition, it can be copied to these other devices when connected to the PC.

...and maybe you would like to put this weather app on your nontouchable reader?
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=316607 that or have external touch events in software apparently the touchscreen and display is one unit or at least, similar displays like this are sold as one unit on ali, and I didn't find the right one for a clara, so replacing the touchscreen only seems to be difficult |
