				Aura One or Voyage

			Hi,

i have many kobo, Aura, H2O and Glo HD, then i buy a Kindle Voyage and i love it, for the page press buttons, for the light sensor, for the clarity of the screen, for the precision of the page turn. Now i would like to gift my voyage to my mother and return in Kobo with the Aura One, but... i've read that the light sensor is a mess, that the page turn is not quickly and often turn many pages at once (this is one of the reasons for switch from Kobo to Kindle, my Glo HD often turn many pages at once). I read often outside, on a metro, on bus, here is very cold and i use the gloves so i begin to think that the Aura One is not for me. what do you think? |

I've had one issue with a weird light thing that went away. Apart from that my Aura One has been flawless.

Remember that places like this always accentuate the negative. Go to any forum and there will be people complaining about issues because... well, who posts "hey guys, another day and nothing wrong!" I dont have any issues with speed or sensitivity. The auto light, well the colour bit works absolutely fine. I dont switch the auto light sensor on because I prefer to control it myself. |

One thing to think of in choosing. Do you want the larger screen?

			- The Voyage turns pages quicker than the Aura One. It is also quicker at opening books, going to the home screen, and navigating through lists and menus.

	- The Voyage's batman-style cover looks awesome, and functions very well as a stand (unlike the Aura One's), and functions flawlessly as a sleep cover (unlike the Aura One's). - The Aura One's sleepcover looks gorgeous and will probably be made to work properly soon. - The Aura One is waterproof which may give you extra peace of mind when reading on the go. Personally, due to its raised bezel, bulkier size and design, expandable memory, and smaller screen size, I feel that the H2O is a better choice for a a portable reader. I purchased the Aura One to be used primarily at home. |

Braid - having owned an H2O and an Aura One, I'm obviously the opposite to you as I prefer the flat bezel!

but I agree that yeah, if portability is an issue the H2O may be better. I carry around my Aura 1 and don't really notice it's size, but then again I have a Nexus 6p phone (also bloody huge!) so I may not be the best one to ask ;-) |

I prefer it too! I'm very pro-flush when it comes to e-reader bezels. But for reading on the go, I feel that the large screen of the Aura One feels a little delicate, while the raised bezel of the H2O has a more "rugged" feel like a roll cage of sorts - if I scratched that part it wouldn't upset me, whereas with the One it would feel like I've scratched the screen itself.

i have the H20, but now every time i turn a page with a single touch or a swipe turn 3-5 pages at once.

i have lend it to the gf of a friend and i don't know if she broken something, the screen and the case are perfect (i have the last firmware with the patch applied). i prefer the kobo software, i miss so much the reading stats, but the buttons to turn the page with the wool gloves, the light sensor, the flush screen and the origami cover when i read on the caffetteria on the lunch break are feature that i simply like too much and i don't want to lost. i'm also a bit worried about the size of the one, it's big like my ipad mini and i don't think to easy handle it on the bus. so i'm really confused... this saturday go to the store where have some aura one, and compare with my voyage. thank you! I got an Aura One because I wasn't fond of the blue light coming from my other readers. I have the screen set up to have the yellowish tinge of old paper. I wouldn't have it any other way now. I tried to read on my Glo HD, which I used to love, while my Aura One was charging and now I really, really dislike the blue hue.

Love them both. Love the larger screen and customization of the KA1 and the ability to have a remote for page turning for the Voyage. With I could put those features together in one reader.

I have the brightness at 10% and the natural light at 65%. (The natural light has 17 steps, so 100% ÷ 17 = 5.88% per step x 11 steps = 64.7%) I used to have the brightness at 8%, but I've changed it to 10 recently. I might go back, but the problem is the steps go 1-5 then jump to 10, so it's a hassle to get it at 8. Last edited by Sir Loyne; 12-14-2016 at 08:03 PM. |
